Picture Frames

Role: Design + Build

Stage: Production / Finished

Year: 2019

Picture frames are uniquely personal as the attention should be about its contents. I’ve built dozens of frames that are intended to be beautifully simple with wooden splines to strengthen the miter joint.

Solid wood splines are glued into slots then cut flush using a Japanese pull-saw (right photo).

Over two months in 2019, I made dozens of picture frames. Some were sold through Etsy as an experiment of selling flat pack, light-weight products. Some were given away as gifts. And, some I kept.

Here’s a brief overview of the process I found to be best to construct the frames.
